Payroll / Benefits

Welcome to Payroll

We offer more than just a Paycheck!
Employee benefits are not just about the kind of services you get; they are also about how much you may have to pay out of pocket. Orting School District offers one of the most competitive benefits packages in the nation.

We understand that your life revolves around more than just your career and that your priority is making sure that you and your family will maintain health and financial security.

The following information describes typical benefits available for part and full-time employees who are in a benefit eligible position. Actual benefits may vary by position type. Leave accruals and retirement service credits are prorated for less than full-time work. You can seek more information by contacting our Payroll Department.

Insurance Benefits
Employees who are eligible are covered by medical, dental, vision, long-term disability AD & D, and basic life insurance.  There are multiple medical plans with affordable monthly premiums that offer coverage throughout the state. Employees have the option to purchase additional long term disability, life and AD & D coverage amounts.  To view premium rates, coverage choice in your area and how to enroll, please visit the School Employees Benefit Board (SEBB) link for more information.

Staff are eligible to enroll each year in a medical flexible spending account which enables them to use tax-deferred dollars toward their health care expenses. They are also eligible to enroll in a dependent care account which enables them to use tax-deferred dollars towards daycare costs for eligible dependents.

Retirement
Qualified Orting School District employees are members of the Washington School Employees' Retirement System (SERS) or Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS).  Employees new to School District employment in either category have the option of two different plans that have different employee contribution options and different vesting timeframes. For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' website.

Deferred Compensation and Tax Sheltered Annuities
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) or a Tax Sheltered Annuity. These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allow you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
