Nutrition Services

The Food and Nutrition Department follows all USDA guidelines to ensure students have access to Nutritious Breakfasts and Lunches.

We offer whole-grain bread, cereals, and pizza crusts with reduced-fat cheeses. A salad bar and fresh fruit are offered daily at all schools, and we encourage children to eat fruit and vegetables every day.

We want to make sure that every Orting student can receive healthy and delicious meals at school. To help with this, families are encouraged to apply to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Application (CNEEB), formerly known as Free and Reduced.

Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, Ptarmigan Ridge Elementary and Orting Elementary will be able to offer free breakfast and lunch for all students, regardless of their Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit (CNEEB) status.

While all elementary students will receive free meals for the 2025-26 school year, it's still very important to complete the CNEEB application each school year. This application:

  • Helps determine eligibility for additional benefits for families
  • Supports school funding and access to educational resources
  • Plays a critical role in future eligibility for free meals under House Bill 1238

Even if you don't think you qualify, every application counts and helps support our school community. We strongly encourage all families to submit a completed CNEEB application before October 1 each year.
