Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit
The nutrition program's benefits and services are available to all children without regard to gender, race, age, or national origin.
We want to make sure that every Orting student can receive healthy and delicious meals at school. To help with this, families are encouraged to apply to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Application (CNEEB), formerly known as Free and Reduced. The forms need to be submitted each year and are due mid-October for returning families.
We're excited to share that all students at Orting School District's elementary schools will continue receiving one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day through the end of the 2030 school year through Washington's Provision 2 program under HB 1238.
This is wonderful news for families, helping ensure students have reliable access to nutritious meals that support learning, growth, and well-being. Families are still encouraged to complete the Child Nutrition Education and Benefit (CNEEB) applications, as these forms help determine continued funding and eligibility for programs that directly support students and district programs.

FAQs:
Why do our secondary schools not receive one free breakfast and one free lunch like our elementary schools do?
We would love to offer free breakfast and lunch to our secondary students as well. However, HB 1238 only applies to elementary students in grades K-4. Our 5th-grade students are included because they are in the same building.
