Department Home
The Food and Nutrition Department follows all USDA guidelines to ensure students have access to Nutritious Breakfast and Lunches.
We offer whole grain breads, cereals, and pizza crusts with reduced fat cheeses. A salad bar and fresh fruit are offered daily at all schools. We encourage children to eat fruit and vegetables every day.
We want to make sure that every Orting student can receive healthy and delicious meals at school. To help with this, families are encouraged to apply to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Application (CNEEB), formerly known as Free and Reduced. For the 2024-25 school year, Orting Elementary School will provide breakfast and lunch at no cost, regardless of free and reduced eligibility status.
What is the Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit Application?
The Child Eligibility and Education Benefit Application (CNEEB) is a document that helps us figure out if your family qualifies for free or lower-cost meals at school. By filling out this form, you provide important information about your household’s income and size. This helps us understand if you’re eligible for assistance.
Why is it important?
1. Support for Families: If your family qualifies, your child will get free or reduced-price meals, which can help with your budget.
2. Funding for the School: The information from these forms helps the school receive the right amount of funding to provide meals for all students. It ensures the program can continue helping families who need it.
How to fill out the form:
1. Get the Form: Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit Applications are available throughout the school year and can be obtained from secretaries, cashiers, or online. A new application must be returned each school year before October. Once the application is turned in and approved, it is good for the entire school year. Only one application is necessary per family. A student on free /reduced lunches is entitled to a free/reduced breakfast.
2. Fill It Out: Provide the details about your family’s income and the number of people in your household. Please be sure you have signed the bottom of the form.
3. Submit It: You can return the completed application to the school office, central office, email or mail it.
