Superintendent

Ed Hatzenbeler has more than 25 years of experience in education and educational leadership. He served as a middle school teacher and coach in the Enumclaw School District prior to moving into school administration. He first came to Orting in 2011 in the capacity of high school principal and was part of an amazing team of education professionals that led Orting High School to seven straight awards from Washington State and the Center for Educational Excellence. He left in 2016 to become the Director of Business and Operations in the Enumclaw School District and returned in July 2021 to the role of superintendent.  

Hatzenbeler holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington as well as a Masters in Teaching from City University and superintendent certificate from Western Washington University. His wife, Kim, is a high school Spanish teacher and he has two grown children. In his spare time, he enjoys Husky football and the outdoor activities include hiking, mountaineering, diving, fishing and hunting.
