As a system we continue to learn and grow as we navigate new territory, and we appreciate your feedback and grace as we progress. Many folks have commented on the volume of emails they've been receiving, and we're taking steps to dial this back.Another adjustment we're making is to our original vision of the "one page document". Rather than a single push out of learning opportunities each week, each department will be publishing 5 days of engaging learning opportunities following this schedule:
Monday - ELA
Tuesday - Technology and Electives
Wednesday - Math
Thursday - Health/Fitness and Social Studies
Friday - Science
We are continuing our outreach work in order to support getting devices into the hands of students who need them to stay engaged. Please make sure your email contacts in Skyward are accurate, as that is our chief way of reaching out to the entire school community. Please reach out to your student's counselor if you haven't heard from us by close of business Tuesday. A plan for distributing Chromebooks for students that NEED them is being developed district wide.Given the truncated nature of the start of the second semester, we will not be posting grades or mailing report cards for the third quarter. We will put a ‘freeze’ on gradebooks after April 3rd (i.e. no longer accept late work, no extra credit, no makeup assignments from earlier in the quarter).
Our goal from this point is to engage and support students in the learning opportunities we’re providing for them. Currently, none of the learning opportunities being published are to be graded assignments, but opportunities for students to stay engaged. Teachers have devoted hours and hours of time creating these opportunities for students, are ready to support students, and also understand if there are mitigating circumstances that compromise your student's ability to engage. We're looking to be partners with households in the coming weeks, and don't want to elevate anxiety levels.
