School Board Recognizes Staff and Students at January 19 Regular Board Meeting
At the January 19 Regular School Board Meeting, Board Directors recognized staff members and heard from our Career and Technical Education students about how the February 14 bond would impact them and their learning.
To start off the night, the board recognized one of our bus drivers for their heroic acts earlier this school year. On December 15, an Orting Primary School student, Claire Dunwoody, had a medical emergency on the way home. Ambra Moore, one of our bus drivers, responded by contacting the transportation office and stopping the bus, managing an entire bus-load of anxious students, communicating with parents at the bus stop, and working with Claire's parent and emergency responders. Thank you, Ambra, for your quick thinking and jumping into action!
Next, the Board of Directors acknowledged our School Resource Officer (SRO) Geoff Boone for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on January 9. The Board shared their appreciation for all that Boone does on campus for our students, staff and community. Thank you, Officer Boone!
Lastly, the board had the opportunity to hear from students from our Career and Technical Education program. Students from our agricultural pathway, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), and health sciences pathway shared how the February 14, 2023 Orting School District Bond would impact their learning, and future students' learning.
Thank you to everyone that shared at our school board meeting!
