OSD Board President Holland to leave after November, will continue to represent Orting at Puget Sound ESD

Orting School District (OSD) Board President Stanley Holland will leave his role with the district at the end of November, beginning a new position with the Puget Sound ESD in Renton, WA.

Since Dec. 2014, Holland represented OSD's District #2 Area in Orting. Along with his primary duties with the OSD Board of Directors, he does equity work with the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA), Washington's statewide school board organization supporting over 1,400 board members across the state.

In Dec. 2021, Holland will join Puget Sound ESD, the largest of nine regional educational agencies serving public school districts throughout Washington state, as the new District 9 Representative. In this role, Holland will help develop and deliver services, providing instructional and administrative support for grades pre-K through 12 and services for students and families in the Puget Sound Region. Also, this position allows Holland to work closely with the Washington Office of Superintendent Public Instruction (OSPI) officials who develop policies and procedures for school board operations.

Along with Orting, other districts Holland will represent include:

  • Bethel
  • Carbonado
  • Clover Park
  • Eatonville
  • Franklin-Pierce
  • Steilacoom
  • White River

Holland says he is excited to bring the knowledge and perspective he gained through the past seven years in Orting on a bigger scale.

"I am looking forward to working with another group of great men and women that have the best interest of our current and future kids," Holland said. "I am excited to bring ideas I have learned in my tenure with Orting to enhance and advance Orting."

Holland recalls his favorite memory as an OSD Board of Director.

"I love going to our schools and seeing the kids present," he said. "Every time I visit, I see excitement fill their faces with what they learned in class. It never gets old."

Even though Holland says he will miss working with the other OSD Board of Directors and administrative staff, he still plans to be a presence throughout Orting's community.

"I've lived here since 1999," Holland said. "I purchased my home and raised my family in Orting. "I will still be active for our children and their future. See you around town!"
