Today, May 12, 2019, we received notification Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department confirmed a case of measles in the county. The infected person was at Orting High School during non-school hours for the following events on May 6th and May 7th.
Monday, May 6, 6-10 p.m.—Orting High School, Orting City Planning Meeting
Tuesday, May 7, 7:30-10 p.m.—Orting High School, Orting junior dance team banquet
Most people in our area have immunity to the measles through vaccination, so the risk to the general public is low. However, anyone who was in the locations of potential exposure to measles around the times listed above should:
Find out if they have been vaccinated for measles or have had measles previously, and
Call a health care provider promptly if you develop an illness with fever or illness with an unexplained rash between May 10-27. To avoid possibly spreading measles to other patients, do not go to a clinic or hospital without calling first to tell them you want to be evaluated for measles.

We are committed to the health and safety of our students, staff and community. We will monitor the situation through a partnership with the health department and keep you informed if there are any further developments that impact our students or staff.
