How TPCHD's Outdoor Mask Mandate affects Orting School District Outdoor Events
On Tuesday, Sept. 7, a countywide mask order from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD) went into effect for all outdoor events with 500 or more people in attendance, requiring all individuals five years and older to wear a mask at outdoor events regardless of vaccination status. Also, the order states that individuals who cannot remain at least six feet apart from non-household members should wear a mask around each other.
When you attend events at the district's football stadium, you will see signage that reminds everyone to wear a mask and stay six feet apart. If the event reaches 500 or more people, please be prepared to follow these procedures if you are in attendance.
As always, I want you and everyone else who attends our events to have a great time. Also, I understand how they bring everyone together in our community, which is joyful for all of us. At the same time, we must continue to be mindful of those around us. By wearing a mask, you will keep our students and fellow community members safe by mitigating the spread.
