Earlier this month, the Orting School District Board of Directors conducted interviews to fill the Director District #1 position. Michael Melot, a resident of Orting for over 16 years and a parent of five kids that have attended the Orting School District, was chosen to fill the position. 

"[I am] looking forward to working with our Board of Directors and superintendent on helping students feel safe and give our students every opportunity to succeed," Melot said. 

Melot has been an active member of the Orting community, including serving as the president of the Orting Performing Arts Booster Club, being a chaperone for Band Camps, marching in the Daffodil Parade and coaching soccer or baseball offered by the city and the district.
