The Orting School District is pleased to announce that we have selected Connie Halvorson-Tran to be the next principal of Orting Primary School. She comes to Orting from the Sumner Bonney-Lake School District, where she has served as an assistant principal since 2017. Her extensive background in instructional leadership, behavioral support and building and leading intervention systems was a highlight in the interview process. Prior to entering school administration, Halvorson-Tran served as an elementary teacher and instructional coach with the Olympia School District.

 

Upon touring the school, she appreciated meeting several staff and students and said that it felt like home. She is looking forward to building relationships with staff, students and families and increasing the home-school connection and partnership. As an Orting resident herself, she has a vested interest in building community and creating a school where, "all students have access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success in their future." Halvorson-Tran replaces Principal Christi Ellenwood who accepted a K-6 principalship in the Puyallup School District. Upon approval from the Board of Directors, she will begin in this capacity on July 1st.
