Lahar Evacuation Drill Photos

Partnerships and preparedness are essential to safety in any emergency situation. On the morning of Thursday, March 21, OSD participated in a region-wide lahar exercise drill. The purpose of this exercise is to educate and prepare students in case of a lahar event from Mount Rainier. The East Pierce County Interlocal Coalition Management Team and partners coordinated and designed this exercise to test and improve the ability to evacuate students and staff.

We want to thank our partners for this event, including the Orting Police Department, Pierce County, City of Orting, Orting Valley Fire Department, City of Puyallup, USGS scientists, Washington State Soldiers Home, High Cedars Golf Club and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue. Also, a HUGE shout-out to our staff and volunteers that supported this drill and kept our students safe!
