COVID 19 Updates
Good afternoon Cougar Families,
We miss each of you! We are saddened by the closing of our schools, however we believe it's important to do our part to help protect students, staff and our community and are following the guidelines put in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19. This week our administrative team, including principals from all schools and the district office team, have been working together collaboratively with our staff to address how we will engage students during the closure. This includes the task of building a system to provide breakfast and lunch, to consider childcare, to provide a system for staff collaboration and ensuring consistency in the work at OPS and PtR.
Starting Friday, March 20th you will receive an email through Skyward with a document attached for each grade level with engagement opportunities to help students practice skills in order to keep them sharp during this time away from school. These will also be available on our website. Each Friday we will send home a new engagement plan for the following week created by the entire grade level team. We will add a few components as we go and families get the hang of the format. If you are not able to open the PDF document, please let me or your child's teacher know right away so we can work with you to resolve this! Please know that this work is not graded and it is not expected that students will return this. It's really about good practice right now. You will also see extension opportunities for online tools each week, which will also continue to grow. We realize that we may need to be flexible during this time depending on any additional decisions or changes from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) or Governor Inslee.
We will have more information soon about ways to keep connected to staff and as a community! We are Cougar strong and I know we will do a great job with the unprecedented challenges we are being presented with as a community.
Lunches/breakfast can be picked up each weekday by students up to 18 years old at OMS from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm. There are also a number of delivery routes posted on our Facebook page.
