Supporting our Immigrant, Refugee, and Undocumented Students and Families
Note from our superintendent:
As Superintendent of Orting School District, I am honored to lead a district that is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for our students, families, and staff. Our core values from our Strategic Plan are the foundation of everything we do:
- We foster high expectations, continuous growth, and high achievement for all learners.
- We understand and cultivate the unique needs and interests of our students through relationships and personalization.
- We are dedicated to removing barriers to learning, ensuring that our schools are equitable and inclusive.
- We believe that ongoing communication, collaboration, and community engagement are vital to our success.
These values guide our actions and decisions every day. I want to reassure all families and staff that Orting schools are places where every student belongs, is seen, and is valued. Our commitment to safety extends beyond physical spaces and into the emotional and academic well-being of our community members.
In line with OSPI's Protections for Immigrant Students, we want to share our policies and procedures on this topic as well as resources to support our families and community, which reinforce our beliefs and the way we run our district.
We are unwavering in our dedication to creating opportunities for every student, regardless of background, to thrive and succeed. Together, we will continue to build an environment where all learners are empowered to reach their full potential and contribute to a better future.
In partnership,
Ed Hatzenbeler
Superintendent
